Buckeye Neighborhood Mural Cleveland, Ohio
December 2006: A little background...Up in the east side of Cleveland exists the small, but growing neighborhood of Buckeye, one of the beneficiaries of an iniciative from Neighborhood Progress Inc. to help growing communities. With the funding provided, Buckeye Area Development Corp. decided to invest in some public artwork. BADC teamed up with Cleveland Public Art to organize an open competition for artists to submit proposals for 2 possible murals.
February 2007: I get a call from CPA and I am informed that I have been selected to paint one of the murals. (Do I need to explain the excitement and disbelief?)
March 2007: Preparations include: Gathering of information regarding: materials, location specifications, installation, etc. Putting together a budget and getting the approval from all parties (a lot of time waiting around for this). The final step in this part of the project is the signing of the contract (which should be happening this Friday 3-30-07) After I am legally bound to this whole endeavor I will be handed the mula with which I will happily go shopping for materials. Finally, the fun begins...yeay!!!
May 2007: The check arrived, the materials have been purchased, and the painting has begun...finally!
...Blank slate...very intimidating. (Shown here is 1/3 of total amount of boards I have to paint)
...Slow start...
